The residential building at Jenaer Strasse 25/26 is a modern construction from 1956, which stands out with its balconies belonging to each apartment. Although the apartment building is located in Jenaer Strasse, it can be reached via the entrance of the adjacent building in Günzelstrasse 66. The studio flat of about 39 square metres is located in the second floor of the house on Jenaer Strasse. As you enter, a convenient little hallway takes you to the kitchen, the bathroom and the spacious living and bedroom of about 25 square metres. With its white walls and its bright laminated flooring, the flat radiates a friendly atmosphere. The large double-panel window in the living room and the balcony door next to it admit plenty of daylight, which combines with the white doors and window frames to reinforce the warm and welcoming ambience. The west-facing balcony, which has a lovely view of old-growth trees on this quiet side street, runs the entire length of the living room and offers enough space to let you hang out on balmy summer evenings among your flower pots and herb planters. Both the small separate kitchen and the brightly tiled bathroom, which is equipped with a shower, have windows that overlook the landscaped courtyard.
The Bayerisches Viertel neighbourhood in Berlin Schöneberg district has for many decades been favoured by a well-heeled clientèle. Indeed, the quarter as such was planned for a patrician, affluent population cohort in the early days of the 20th century. Extravagant and generously proportioned residential buildings with elegant facade details were designed and even a dedicated underground line constructed. To this day, the residents of this neighbourhood are mainly members of the upper middle-class, artists and academics. This alone explains why this is a neighbourhood with a unique flair. Small book stores, cafés, workshops and owner-operated bakeries as well as fine-dining restaurants form an engaging mix of the business landscape. It coexists with a dense network of retail venues that cover the day-to-day needs of local consumers. Just two underground stops north of here lies the prime high-street pitch along Kurfürstendamm boulevard, and Berlins largest department store, KaDeWe. A leafy oasis amidst the urban bustle is Volkspark Schöneberg-Wilmersdorf, served by a dedicated underground stop. Forming a green strip 2.5 kilometres long, the park connects the two districts and serves as a neighbourhood sanctuary with its dense growth of trees, tanning lawns, leisure areas and running trails. The quarter also has rich cultural amenities, especially in the side streets around the squares Viktoria-Luise-Platz and Bayerischer Platz. When out and about for a Sunday stroll, you may come across coffeehouse concerts, readings and roundtable discussions that will draw you in and instantly make you a part of the cultural life of Bayerisches Viertel.
