Who is not looking for the charm of old buildings in Berlin and still wants to live in green surroundings? At Bernstorffstrasse 12 in Tegel, the green and lake district in the north of the city, singles, couples and families enjoy the balanced mix of urban life in a relaxed atmosphere. In Bernstorffstrasse, one charming Wilhelminian style old building follows another. The five-storey apartment building at Bernstorffstrasse 12 also blends harmoniously into the overall picture. The well-maintained residential building, dating from 1906, was given a new friendly coat of paint in July 2018 and welcomes its residents with a round arch entrance typical of the building period. The staircase without lift has also been repainted and fitted with a new floor covering. The top floor contains two renovated empty apartments, each with 3 rooms and sizes of about 93 and 99 square metres. Due to the roof construction, the ceiling height varies from 2.10 metres in some areas of the apartments to 2.70 metres at the highest point. The eat-in kitchens with windows to the quiet inner courtyard are tiled. The bathrooms, which are also tiled, have a bathtub in the smaller apartment or a bathtub and shower in the larger apartment. This apartment also has an undeveloped roof space of about 25 square meters, which can be developed by the owner himself. A positive preliminary building permit has been issued. The flats are supplied by a gas central heating and a central hot water system. Furthermore, the residents have the possibility to use a cellar as additional storage space. In addition to the charming apartments, there is also a commercial unit in the house.
Once you get out of the subway line 6 at Alt-Tegel, you’re right in the center of the ancient village Alt-Tegel. From this center the village Tegel grew into the 3rd biggest city district of Reinickendorf and it is nowadays considered as the most green- and water-wealthy parts of Berlin. Bernstorffstraße is located close to the subway station and it’s a quiet side street of the Berliner Straße, a busy shopping street that crosses the district. Here you can find various retailers, medical practices and a shopping center at the ‘Hallen am Borsigturm’. A visit to the movies is possible at the CineStar as well as sporty activities are in the gym and at the Bowling center. Only a few meters away you can easily reach the newly designed Tegel-Center in the middle of the pedestrian road in Gorkistraße. Tegel is impressively green and water-rich. Just the Tegeler lake invites for a round trip by foot or bike. Starting at the Greenwichpromenade with a former steamer dog, a lake terrace and a beergarden, one can start his expedition into an impressive neighborhood. You cross the ‘Tegeler Forst’ and the ‘Tegeler Fließ’, which almost gives you the impression of being on holiday. A well-balanced educational landscape characterizes the district as well as bustle culture life does. It’s not the big museums and names that characterize the environment but it’s the steadily over years grown art- and culture-scene, that builds up on a strong community. Famous is the architectural impressive Humboldt library that not only has a variety of media to offer, it is also a place for concerts, lectures and exhibitions. But as life is not only composed of spare time, Tegel profits from a solid developed infrastructure. The public transport system has a dense net of subway-, S-Bahn- and bus-stations to offer that’ll transport you in no time to the city center. The close-by city highway as well as the highway ring all around Berlin will bring you fast to remote destination.
