Building Details:
Following extensive renovation carried out in close coordination with historic preservation authorities and in line with modern standards, Riehmers Hofgarten now shines in new splendor. As part of the complex, both residents and owners benefit from the attractive courtyard garden, which features landscaped paths, picnic areas, a bocce court, and a playground—offering tranquility, social interaction, and recreation. Additional convenience is provided by access to covered stroller and bicycle parking areas, as well as the underground parking garage, which can be reached via the courtyard garden.
The eleven building entrances are named after the descendants of the Hohenzollern dynasty. Accordingly, at Großbeerenstraße 56 E, the staircase leading up through the “Elisabeth” entrance takes you to a first-floor apartment. With three rooms spanning approximately 118 m², it delights residents who appreciate the charm of a modernized historic building. You’re greeted by a generously sized entryway, from which a 14 m² kitchen branches off to the right. To the left is the approximately 12 m² bathroom.
From there, the entryway leads directly into the first of the three rooms, which is suitable as a dining room. It faces the quiet backyard. The two rear rooms next to it are connected by a door and each measure approximately 24 m². They are sunny and face south, a feature from which the last room—with its balcony—benefits in particular.
From the second room, you enter a bathroom that still has room for improvement. During a renovation, the entire bathroom area could be reorganized and updated with modern fixtures.
The apartment is ideal for single- or two-person households who enjoy living on the same level as the charming courtyard grounds. The unit should be completely renovated and refurbished according to the owner’s preferences and in compliance with building codes.
It features characteristics typical of older buildings, such as historic stucco on high ceilings—some of which has been restored—as well as wooden doors and double-hung windows, the exterior surfaces of which have been refurbished. The mailbox system has also been replaced.

Other Information
It is a gem from the Wilhelmine era and enriches Berlin as an outstanding architectural monument: Riehmer’s Hofgarten.
Courage and visionary dedication once inspired Wilhelm Riehmer, as a developer, to defy urban planning standards in pursuit of superior living quality. Instead of dense residential buildings clustered around narrow courtyards, the master mason had a magnificent complex built on his property in 1891–92, elegantly arranged around a park-like garden.
With an eye for detail and meticulous attention to preservation, the Neo-Baroque buildings and outdoor areas have been extensively renovated. The stately facades now feature a light, airy appearance. Building and apartment doors, windows, and stair railings have been restored in keeping with the original design. On the mezzanine levels, partially exposed frescoes bear witness to the artistic aesthetics of the era in which the complex was built.
To meet sophisticated standards, contemporary quality has been seamlessly integrated. The lighting and doorbell systems complement the authentic design with high-quality technology. The water supply and drainage lines, as well as the heating and electrical systems, have been partially optimized or replaced.
