ACCENTRO Expands Its Investment in PropTech1 Ventures Following a Successful Collaboration

Berlin, March 7, 2019 – As one of PropTech1 Ventures’ earliest investors, ACCENTRO Real Estate AG is now expanding its investment to a seven-figure amount as part of the venture capital fund’s upcoming subscription closing, which will take place shortly.

PropTech1 Ventures is one of the leading investors in European PropTech startups—young, fast-growing companies specializing in the digital transformation of the real estate industry. ACCENTRO’s efforts are centered on customer satisfaction. By expanding its investment in PropTech1, ACCENTRO underscores its commitment to innovative, technology-driven developments that ultimately benefit its customers.

"The positive practical experience we gained during our first year with PropTech1 has prompted us to expand our investment. On the one hand, we view our investment in PropTech1 from a return-on-investment perspective; above all, however, PropTech1 provides us with an unparalleled overview of developments in the startup scene, as PropTech1 has already analyzed over 200 innovative companies focused on the digital transformation of our industry, and as shareholders, we also have the opportunity to network directly with the most attractive candidates. “This approach is ideal for us, because it would be unrealistic for us to build a ten-person team ourselves just for our own venture capital investments, and even then, as strategists, we would run the risk of seeing only a fraction of the so-called deal flow,” explains Jacopo Mingazzini, CEO of ACCENTRO Real Estate AG.

“ACCENTRO is exactly the kind of investor we’re looking for: an agile company that, thanks to its openness to innovation, can also be an attractive partner for our portfolio companies. Furthermore, the fund—and thus all investors—benefits from the collective expertise of our shareholders, a crucial aspect that, as a dedicated PropTech investor with numerous shareholders from the real estate industry, clearly sets us apart from virtually all other investors in the market,” adds Nikolas Samios, Managing Partner of PropTech1 Ventures.

About PropTech1 Ventures

PropTech1 Ventures (www.proptech1.ventures) is Germany’s first venture capital fund specializing in European PropTech startups, with offices in Berlin (HQ) and Zurich. After decades of shying away from genuine innovation, the real estate industry—often referred to as the “sleeping giant”—is now facing radical change due to advancing digitalization. This presents enormous opportunities for PropTech startups focused on optimizing, digitizing, and disrupting the real estate sector. The VC fund was jointly launched by real estate entrepreneur Marius Marschall von Bieberstein (Managing Partner at evoreal) and the managing partners of the COOPERATIVA Venture Group, Nikolas Samios and Anja Rath, and is supported by venture partners including Dr. Beat Schwab (former Head of Global Real Estate Asset Management at Credit Suisse), Andreas Wende (Managing Partner at NAI apollo), Christian Vollmann (CEO & Founder of nebenan.de and “Business Angel of the Year 2017”), Kristofer Fichtner (Co-founder of Thermondo), Nicholas Neerpasch (CEO & Co-founder of Doozer), and Dr. Peter Staub (CEO & Founder of the real estate consulting firm pom+). To date, the fund’s partners include 18 real estate companies and entrepreneurs from all areas of the value chain. PropTech1 thus offers PropTech companies not only venture capital but also expertise and market access from leading experts in the traditional real estate industry, the PropTech scene, and the venture capital sector. Through its team of analysts—which covers the focus regions of DACH, UK, and the Nordics, and also monitors international trends, access to what we consider to be the most interesting startups in the scene, proven expertise in venture capital methodologies, financial participation both through the fund and via direct co-investment opportunities, as well as facilitated exchanges among other innovation-oriented real estate companies and with the PropTech startups themselves.
