Berlin, July 26, 2022 – Residential real estate investor ACCENTRO Real Estate AG, Germany’s leading residential privatization company, has won the prestigious CFI.co Award for the best residential real estate strategy in Germany. The company stood out from the competition thanks to its innovative business model. “We are incredibly pleased about this award and see it as further validation of our business strategy. In recent years, we have intensively expanded and consolidated our market-leading position as a responsible investor, privatizer, and real estate manager. We have broken new ground—not least through our partnership with ImmobilienScout24—and have established ourselves as the most crisis-resilient company,” said Lars Schriewer, CEO of ACCENTRO Real Estate AG, upon receiving the internationally recognized award.
ACCENTRO’s business model is based on three distinct areas of activity: Its core business is the sale of apartments to private buyers. Since 2009, the company has sold more than 18,000 apartments worth well over 2 billion euros. In addition, ACCENTRO—particularly since Lars Schriewer’s appointment as CEO in March 2020—has been actively expanding its own residential real estate portfolio, which now comprises approximately 4,300 units, in order to tap into another stable source of income through rental revenue as part of a buy-and-hold strategy. The company’s third pillar is the marketing and sales of apartments for property owners, investors, and project developers. This service business is set to be strengthened through an exclusive partnership with ImmobilienScout24, Europe’s largest real estate portal. As part of this partnership, ACCENTRO provides property developers and sellers with a purchase and sales guarantee, thereby creating a secure exit strategy that allows for reliable cost calculations again in times of rising construction costs. In addition, the company is driving digital transformation in the real estate industry and, together with Samsung subsidiary Cheil, has developed the digital platform Proprate. Proprate aggregates all purchase offers from major real estate portals and assigns them a score for investors.
With this creative mix, Lars Schriewer steered the company safely through the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling ACCENTRO to achieve record revenue of 192.7 million euros in fiscal year 2021—a 53.9 percent increase over the previous year—despite challenging circumstances. The first quarter of 2022 also got off to a strong start for ACCENTRO, with consolidated revenue up 22.1% year-over-year, EBIT up 59.0%, and the EBIT margin rising by as much as 250 basis points.
In addition to the success of its business model amid the challenging political and economic environment of recent years, the CFI.co jury also praised ACCENTRO’s efforts to promote transparency in the real estate market. The ACCENTRO Housing Costs Report and the ACCENTRO Homeownership Report—which annually examine the costs of homeownership and the condominium market—were recognized as contributing to informed decision-making by real estate buyers in Germany.
