Welcome to Torstrasse 225/227! The classy Belle Époque building from 1900 is centrally located in Berlin’s borough of Mitte, within easy walking distance of the "Oranienburger Tor" subway station. One of the most striking aspects of this multi-unit dwelling is its aesthetically pleasing façade whose historic elements were mostly preserved. Its amazing features include arched windows and wooden double-cased windows. Some of the flats in the front building come with balconies or oriel windows admitting plenty of light. At the same time, the sheer size of the building is impressive. It consists of a front building, two side buildings and two back buildings, accessed via six separate entranceways and two inner courtyards. The five floors of the front building divide into five commercial units along with flats of 1 to 3 bedrooms and of around 40 to 106 square metres in residential floor area. These flats are particularly well-proportioned and bright in character because of their ceiling heights of up to 3.70 metres and their large divided windows. The period building charm is highlighted by the mostly preserved and overhauled wooden floors, which take the form of panel parquetry, fishbone parquetry or board flooring. In conjunction with refurbishment work, the apartment building will be fitted with lifts and expanded to include attic flats. The building is supplied by a gas-fired central heating system. In the first of the inner courtyards are bicycle racks recently installed. Drone footage:https://youtu.be/8V6VcwHqAuU Show flat: https://youtu.be/z_1wzvqMjWc
It’s all in the name: "Mitte" being the German word for "centre" and the borough of Mitte covering the historic centre of Berlin. Mitte is composed of a large number of vibrant neighbourhoods, each with its own character. Torstrasse is located in one of the city’s most charming quarters—the Scheunenviertel neighbourhood in the Spandauer Vorstadt sub-district—and an area with a rich cultural history. Having your residence and home turf on Torstrasse puts all the urban amenities of life in Germany’s first city right at your fingertips. Everywhere you turn, you are surrounded by culinary and cultural diversity. Going south, you will hit Friedrichstrasse, a bustling high street lined with renowned theatres, including Deutsches Theater, Berliner Ensemble and Friedrichstadt Palast. At the bridge where it crosses the Spree River, pleasure boats dock to take you on sight-seeing tours. Roughly one kilometre upstream lies Museum Island, one of the cultural highlights of the city and a World Heritage Site that is equally popular among locals and visitors. During the summer months, people love to hang out in the parklands of Monbijoupark on the riverbank across from the island. A beach bar with real sand sets up on the riverbank in summer and offers tango dancing beneath the night sky, and there are plenty of things to do for the little ones, including a fairy tale cottage and a child-size pool. Art and design lovers can browse to their heart’s content in the historically grown area between Linienstrasse, Weinmeisterstrasse and around Hackescher Markt. Galleries and exclusive boutique stores are a particularly rewarding destination for flaneurs. While bustling with life in the daytime, the neighbourhood is every bit as vibrant after dark. Cafés, bars and restaurants of every kind attract Berliners and tourists both, and the nightlife ambience here is symptomatic of the entire city’s joie de vivre.
