Welcome to LeNeuf, a classy Belle Époque building on Torstrasse! Dating back to 1900, the building complex is centrally located in Mitte. The historic façade with its mostly preserved original period elements and with its restored arched window casings and wooden double-cased windows. The complex consists of a front building with five commercial units, two side buildings and two back buildings, accessed via six separate entranceways and two inner courtyards. The flats that have 1 to 3 bedrooms are particularly spacious and bright in character because of their ceiling heights of up to 3.70 metres. The period building charm is highlighted by the mostly preserved and overhauled wooden floors. Most of the apartments come with a balcony or a brightly day-lit oriel each. Electrical installations were replaced, and modern LED ceiling spotlights installed in bathroom, hallway and kitchen. The plaster-finished walls complete the picture of the refurbished flat. Existing plaster cornices were repaired and restored to erstwhile splendour. Aside from the new tiling of the kitchen floor with porcelain stoneware, the bathroom was re-tiled and fitted out with modern sanitary fixtures and fittings, including a heated towel rack. The installation of a new heating system that features panel radiators creates an extra-cosy ambience in the flats. In conjunction with extensive refurbishment works, the residential complex is being expanded by nine new attic flats, while lifts will also be installed. In addition to overhauling the rendered façade surfaces, new balconies with yellow balau decking will be installed that will be perfect for spending sunny afternoons outside. The building will be supplied with hot water by district heating substations. It’s all in the name: "Mitte" being the German word for "centre" and the borough of Mitte covering the historic centre of Berlin. Mitte is composed of a large number of vibrant neighbourhoods, each with its own character. Torstrasse is located in one of the city’s most charming quarters—the Scheunenviertel neighbourhood in the Spandauer Vorstadt sub-district—and an area with a rich cultural history. Having your residence and home turf on Torstrasse puts all the urban amenities of life in Germany’s first city right at your fingertips. Everywhere you turn, you are surrounded by culinary and cultural diversity. Going south, you will hit Friedrichstrasse, a bustling high street lined with renowned theatres, including Deutsches Theater, Berliner Ensemble and Friedrichstadt Palast. At the bridge where it crosses the Spree River, pleasure boats dock to take you on sight-seeing tours. Roughly one kilometre upstream lies Museum Island, one of the cultural highlights of the city and a World Heritage Site that is equally popular among locals and visitors. During the summer months, people love to hang out in the parklands of Monbijoupark on the riverbank across from the island. A beach bar with real sand sets up on the riverbank in summer and offers tango dancing beneath the night sky, and there are plenty of things to do for the little ones, including a fairy tale cottage and a child-size pool. Art and design lovers can browse to their heart’s content in the historically grown area between Linienstrasse, Weinmeisterstrasse and around Hackescher Markt. Galleries and exclusive boutique stores are a particularly rewarding destination for flaneurs. While bustling with life in the daytime, the neighbourhood is every bit as vibrant after dark. Cafés, bars and restaurants of every kind attract Berliners and tourists both, and the nightlife ambience here is symptomatic of the entire city’s joie de vivre.
